 Our Story
Hi, I'm Ann. My story began when I was a little girl and opened my first Easy Bake Oven one Christmas morning. The following Sunday, Mom was at church and Dad volunteered to help me bake my first cake. When we put the cake in the oven, I was really excited until I noticed that the ingredients in the pan were boiling. As it turned out, we put the frosting mix in the pan not the cake mix. We soon learned that it's a good idea to read the instructions on the box. The disaster was chalked up to lessons learned. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but the cakes improved instantly after my Mom started helping me.
I was 10 years old when I baked a birthday cake for Dad all by myself. I was so proud, because I decorated it with cowboy boots that looked like the kind he wore. My parents told me that it looked and tasted great. Ok, maybe they lied to me, but I bought it hook line and sinker and have been baking cakes ever since.
Before graduating from high school, I started experimenting with different cookies and cake recipes as a hobby. Shortly after, I met my husband Russ and we started dating. I soon learned that he was a professional chocoholic. My hobbies soon turned into a mission to win my husband over by way of his tummy. Russ came from a long line of chocoholics and he selflessly volunteered to be my taste tester. It took a while before he would try other flavors, but 31 years later I have to hide my desserts or my husband will eat them all. One of my husband's pet peeves is that I got my baking down to a science and as a result, I lowered my scrap rate. This is an Engineering term meaning: "no sweets for him to eat"
After graduating from high school, I pursued a career in the engineering field. I continued baking desserts and brought them in to work for my guinea pigs, I mean, co-workers to taste test. I really appreciated my co-workers giving me their honest opinions, because it allowed me to tweak and improve my recipes. I promise you, that no animals were hurt while testing my desserts. Just Kidding! After a while, I started to hear the same comments, "You should open a bakery; I'd buy your stuff". or "This is the best cake, cookie, etc. I have ever tasted." It wasn't long before my co-workers and family members were requesting their favorite dessert.
All these years of perfecting recipes, has finally paid off because My Honey's Cakes provides some of the best products available to the community. With 80 flavors of cake batters to choose from, we are sure you'll find a flavor that you love.
